About Laurel Mountain…

Laurel Mountain is a family owned and operated farm nestled deep in the countryside of the Cumberland Plateau.  Wilder, Tennessee is our home.  In 2002 God led our family to this property with the instruction to farm.  At the time, we knew nothing of raising livestock.  Our experience as farmers was limited to organic gardening, which had been our lifestyle since the 1990’s.  When we bought the property, it was literally “pioneer life” without the lights and cameras!  Our mountain was wild, wooded, and remote. The nearest house was the size of a dime in the valley below, and any store was (and still is) a 50-minute drive. You must understand, on our property there was no electricity, no water, nothing to even begin with up here.  But by the grace of God, we started clearing the first pastures and garden areas by hand.  We were so proud of our first 20’ x 20’ clearing! Electricity was established, and water became a giant defeated after 3 unsuccessful attempts.  We were learning almost everything first hand. The property itself took a Vision, one that had come straight from God. It was bigger that any of us.

2007 we bought our first chickens! 2008 we expanded into dairy cows and beef.  2009 the first breeding stock for our hogs arrived. Dairy goats made their permanent home on the farm in 2010. Again, we were brand new to all of this. It was the wisdom of God and His divine hand that taught us what to do for healthy animals, and faith in His word to heal them when medical science said there is nothing that can be done.  So many stories to tell, it would fill a full-length book!  It didn’t come in a night.

March 26, 2013 Laurel Mountain was born.  Almost a month to the day, we arrived at our first market ever in Antioch, Tennessee.  As connections form with our customers, lives have divinely made a “Crossing”. Psalms 37:23

We are continuing to learn new things! We have seen God’s hand in every area teaching us how to run a business and ultimately bless the people themselves.

This is only a very small caption of our story, and merely the beginning chapters for us.

Psalms 103:2-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction,

who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things,

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”  (NKJ)
