Intimacy

In the Beginning…God wanted Relationship

Not just with a preacher, God wanted to talk to you.

We were made in the likeness of God… so what was the correlation when God saw that Adam (made like Him) needed someone?  Think about that.  I am going to hand you something very deep for your thought.  Look at these scriptures and consider what they reveal:

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness (not angels likeness, or animals likeness, etc.) … So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female (in a single body)...

Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone…” (NKJ)

So God divided Adam (who was both genders in one body) into separate bodies male and female.

Genesis 2:22-24

Then the rib (also translated clone) which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh (again). (NKJ)

Side note: marriage, God's way, is where you have found the other part of you.  You were not complete without them.  That is why sometimes they have strengths where you are weak and visa versa.  Never despise or envy it.  There is no place for comparisons.  It is the other part of you.  Partake of each other’s gifts, covering the other’s weakness with the strength you lacked separately.  You are joined together (again) as one flesh.  In the beginning, Adam Male and Adam Female were both called “Adam” by God.  There was no “Eve” until one verse after the curse!  When God said, “Adam” they both turned around and said, “Yes, Father!”  When a husband is joined to his wife, she takes his name in representation of that holy thing: “the two becoming one flesh again.”  This is where having one name originated from: when both beings answered to Adam.

Whose name are you?  Significant… When you entered into covenant with Christ Jesus, you took His name Christ-ian.  You have become His body.  He nourishes and cherishes you as personal parts.  Ephesians 5:29-30 …No one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does (you) the church.  For you are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones! When you know who you are in Him, Satan himself will tremble in your/Christ’s presence.  Sickness will have no place in you, for it has no place in Jesus’ physical body on the earth.  You have no fear to ask God for anything; God would not refuse to give Jesus shoes or a home.  When He looks at you, He sees the two have become one by the Blood.

Back to our study.  In the beginning God saw that Adam needed someone like him to fellowship with, even as God needed someone in His likeness.  Elephants, and pelicans just weren’t right for intimacy – not for man or God.  Therefore God divided Adam into two beings.  (Hint: God is Love.  Love always has to have a recipient to give itself too.  God made man in Love’s image.  Love needs covenant relationship) When God said, "Let Us make man according to Our (own) likeness.” God was seeking intimate fellowship – fellowship on Love’s Own level, not that of beasts:  Hosea 2:19-20  "I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know (intimately) the LORD. (NKJ)

I know this is all very deep.  It requires some real consideration.  But even after man’s fall and spiritual death, God went to deep sacrificial lengths to redeem that level of fellowship: “God… because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ … and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”  Ephesians 2:4-6  (NKJ)

In America a husband and wife wear a wedding ring to declare they are in marriage covenant… Notice how serious Jesus took marriage with us, and how intensely He longed for us?  When Jesus rose from the grave, He could have had a perfected body.  But He chose to have the nail hole in BOTH His hands.  Rings declaring marriage covenant on both His hands!  To the universe, all heaven, earth, demons, and hell He declared, this is My Beloved!  She is Mine, My Body, one with Me!

Every time Jesus looks at His hands, He remembers.  He sees His love for His Beloved, whom He wants to talk too. Isaiah 49:15-16  "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.  See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands(NKJ)

Have you accepted the proposal?  The ring has been offered.  He wears His for eternity.  Have you accepted yours?  He made His choice and marked His body with the covenant rings... It's your choice now... to accept the proposal to God and let Him mark your heart with His covenant ring.  If you believe in your heart Jesus died for you and rose again to have covenant with you, and you confess this with your mouth, you shall be saved.  You shall come into covenant with God.  Romans 10:9-13

Do you want to see pure passion:

This passage is more than a bride could dream up.  Its sequence is right before Jesus would give Himself to cut the marriage covenant with us. He is talking to His Father regarding His Beloved. For easier reading, I am going to insert my name/she/her in the place of they/them/world so you can see what God showed me.

John 17:19-24

19 "… for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for (Jessica, you) who will believe in Me through their word;

21 "that she may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that she also may be one in Us (Marriage covenant: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. [Jesus and me] "This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church [Jessica])

22 "And the glory which You gave Me I have given her, that (she, My beloved) may be one just as We are one:

23 "I in her, and You in Me; that she may be made perfect in one (this union), and (for a second reason) that she may know that You have sent Me (to save and covenant her), and have loved her as You have loved Me. (Stop! He wants you to know He loves you with the same intensity that He loves Jesus.  Re-read, He actually says that about you!)

24 "Father, I desire that she also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that she may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. (NKJ)
